Shahenda Soliman
Shahenda Soliman is an Egyptian Kiwi artist who migrated to New Zealand in 2007.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours in 2013 from University of Auckland, as a painter. Her work has been displayed In a number of local and international galleries.
In her newest collection, "Inside Out", Shahenda expresses the complex emotions of the contemporary woman, torn between her nostalgia for the memories of abandon.ed homes and her travels to variqus places. She navigates daily challenges and struggles while finding solace in the company of her friends and in her ongoing inner dialogue with an imaginary bird-the only companion that listens to the feelings she tries to conceal. This bird becomes her confidant, especially during times when,.she is forced to travel or move in opposition to her deep desire for stability.
The contrast in the use of vibrant and lively c9lors In her paintings reflects the contradiction between the attempt to. hide inner emotions and their manifestation in the colors of the surrounding places and people.' This proves that what lies within us inevitably shows on the outside, no matter how hard we try to conceal it.
Two. of her paintings "Blossoming Harmony",2023 and "The Nature Within",2022 have been admitted.as part of the Haegeumgang Museum permanent. collection in South Korea.
